Weasel 3.2.22
This weasel seems smaller than the ones seen on previous videos (scroll ahead 7 videos and compare to the one seen 10.3.21), but I still think it's a small Long-tailed Weasel . It seems too big to be a Least Weasel.
Two Coyotes 2.26.22
Two Coyotes cross the log in the snow at zero degrees F and 1:10 AM. Note their thick winter coats.
Flying Squirrel 3.1.22
Flying Squirrels don't hibernate but they slow their metabolism, forage less, and spend more time in their nest where they huddle together in numbers for warmth. This is the fist video capture since last fall.
Three Red-tailed Hawks Interacting
Sound on! Just off camera: one lands, another threatens, and a third one flies by. The first half is regular speed and the second half is slowed down.
Flying Squirrel Gliding 9.30.21
I slowed the glide down for better visibility.
Flying Squirrel With Nut 9.29.21
The standing tree is a Shagbark Hickory with an abundance of nuts. The Flying Squirrel has collected one.
10-Point Buck Siesta 11.22.21
This is seven short clips spliced together: down, lick, yawn, rise, built-in back scratcher left and right, time to go.
Long Tailed Weasel 10.3.21
It's uncommon to get such a good view of this speedy, frenetic, nocturnal predator.
Screech Owl 6.24.21
He catches and eats something small; I suspect an insect of some kind.
Screech Owl Slo Mo 7.12.21
Slo-mo to better see as he flies away.
Busy Beaver Movie Montage
There were 120 videos in one night, so I chose 20 interesting clips and edited them together in chronologic order, then sped up the film to 8X normal speed so it only lasts 2 minutes. The whole family is working together; this lodge is going to be a palace.
Roly Poly Beaver
Exhibiting uncommon grace and athleticism
Beaver Montage Man Lodge Second Night
Night two, another 120 videos of the busily working beavers, edited down to a a series of 14 or so clips and sped up to 8X normal speed. lasts about 2 minutes.
Building the Lodge in the Rain
I think he sees the camera
Just a Glimpse
Coyote moves between the beaver lodge and the creek.
Mink on the Beaver Lodge
1:41 in the afternoon
Mink on the Larger, Main Lodge
It's on the other side of the creek.
Building the Lodge
Did you know that beavers walk bipedally and semi-erect as they carry mud to build up their lodge?
Busy as a Beaver
The beavers made trip after trip carrying handfuls of mud to build up their lodge.
Exit
The beaver slides back into the channel that leads both to the creek and to the underwater entrance to the lodge.
Second Beaver
The second beaver is smaller and I think is one of last year's kits who is still hanging around and helping the family.
Flying Squirrel
The most adorable of all the squirrels.
Flying Squirrel!
Note the fold of extra skin between the front and hind legs.
